Insurance & Rates
Should I Use My Insurance or Self-Pay?
If you use your insurance:
-
Once your deductible is met, co-pays are minimal
-
Once out of pocket max is met, insurance covers 100% of costs
-
Providers are told when checking your benefits, there is no guarantee of payment
-
Insurance dictates the length of your session (1 hour, 45 min, 30 min.) (Some insurance companies will never pay for the full hour)
-
Insurance has up to 1 year to deny a claim (that has already been paid) and that would mean you are responsible for these costs out of pocket
-
Your diagnosis stays with your medical records permanently
-
Insurance can read all of your therapy notes and have access to them at any time

If you self-pay:
-
Insurance companies do not have access to your session notes
-
There is no mental health or substance use diagnosis added to your chart
-
No surprise insurance issues down the road
-
You have more freedom of session length and frequency
